Frontman of the popular Canadian band Tragically Hip Gord Downie was on the precipice of releasing his next album, Introduce Yourself, when he passed away on Oct. 17. Now we have a chance to go behind-the-scenes of this final recording.

A 23-track double LP, Downie recorded Introduce Yourself across two four-day sessions in January 2016 and February 2017. He worked with his friend Kevin Drew of Broken Social Scene to write, produce and record the album. Many of the album's tracks were captured in a single take.
In this new clip, Downie works on the album's closer, "The North," and talks about how the album, which Downie called a "celebration" of his friendship with Drew, came together.
"A lot of these, I wrote the words in advance, like poems," said Downie. "I'd get one or two a day and then I'd have to stop. Because that's about all ... the soul or whatever, would give up."
Introduce Yourself will be released Oct. 27.
