“Michael Jackson’s Halloween” Special: Tune In Oct. 27 On CBS

The King of Pop's hits will help bring Halloween to life during one-hour animated TV special

With Halloween scheduled on a Tuesday this year, the chance to scare up some fun really begins in earnest this weekend.

The animated and all-ages friendly "Michael Jackson's Halloween" promises to get Halloween weekend off to mysterious start, airing Friday, Oct. 27 at 8 p.m. on CBS.

The special follows characters Vincent and Victoria, who meet on Halloween night and find themselves, along with Ichabod the dog, at the spooky This Place Hotel, located at 777 Jackson Street. Inside, Vincent and Victoria proceed on a thrilling adventure of personal discovery, culminating in a spectacular dance finale featuring the King of Pop.

Jackson's likeness also appears in other forms throughout the special: as the Man in the Moon, a bat, a dancing jack-o'-lantern, and a mad-scientist cat.

According to those working on the project, Jackson — whose iconic "Thriller" is a Halloween playlist staple — seems a natural fit for a Halloween special.

"Michael was a big kid who loved Halloween and loved animation, and, of course, his video 'Thriller' is the most popular music video of all time," John Branca, executive producer and co-executor of the Michael Jackson estate, told Detroit News. "We thought: Michael deserves to be part of Halloween."

"We wanted to imbue the show with the legacy of Michael and the world he created, and the songs that mean so much to so many people," said Mark A.Z. Dippe, the show's director. "We wanted to tell a story that brought all that to life."
