GRAMMY Album Of The Year Winner and Texas Native Kacey Musgraves was on home turf when she kicked off the RodeoHouston music series on Feb. 25. While there, the singer/songwriter covered the late Texan and GRAMMY-winning Tejano, cumbia music star Selena.
Singing in Spanish, Musgraves did a rendition of one of Selena's greatest hits, "Como La Flor," which earned excited cheers from fans at Houston's NRG Park one day before the anniversary of Selena's epic last performance at the Houston Astrodome on Feb. 26, 1995.

"ANYTHING FOR SELENAAAAS and nothing but RESPECT," Musgraves tweeted after the tribute, acknowledging the performance anniversary and adding #Reina.
Selena's sister and Selena Y Los Dinos bandmate Suzette Quintanilla posted a touching Instagram message along with a clip of the performance: "Awww this makes me wanna shed a tear! Takes me back [.] A Big Big Thank you @spaceykacey for the love at the Houston Rodeo tonite with that SELENA Y LOS DINOS Jam!"
Selena's career was cut short after she was killed in March 1995. During the time of her death, the singer was beginning a major crossover into the English language market after creating record hits in Spanish with a distinct sound that included techno, cumbia, pop, Tejano and rancheras. The singer, who won Best Mexican-American Album for Live at the 36th GRAMMY Awards, has been honored by other major contemporary artists, including Beyoncé and Drake.
