The 1969 GRAMMYS were monumental for José Feliciano, who took home both Best New Artist and Best Contemporary Pop Vocal Performance, Male for his version of The Doors' "Light My Fire." And just after finding out about those wins — which were announced by the entire King Family — the Puerto Rican star delivered a stirring rendition of his GRAMMY-winning cover.
The soulful acoustic interpretation mirrored Feliciano's guitar-driven recording, which was featured on his Album Of The Year-nominated LP, Feliciano! As his performance showed, Feliciano transformed the song into a Latin-flavored version that forever redefined a rock staple.
