Warner Music Group and its global music publishing company Warner/Chappell announced on March 9 that "a holistic partnership that includes licensing agreements" was reached with Facebook, giving WMG access to the company's Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, and Oculus VR platforms, allowing users to upload and share the publisher's licensed music content.

By gaining access to WMG in turn, the social media giant hooks up with the record label of IFPI Global Recording Artist 2017 Ed Sheeran and the Warner/Chappell publishing catalogs of Beyoncé and Jay-Z. With thousands and thousands more artists in its back catalog, this vast treasure trove of recordings includes Bruno Mars' label Atlantic as well as its subsidiaries such as Paramore's Fueled By Ramen Records and Lil Uzi Vert's Generation Now.
"When Facebook and music come together, we have the power to bring people closer together. Music brings to life the happy, the sad, the throwback, and the funny in all the moments and messages we share with friends," said Tamara Hrivnak, Facebook's Head of Music Business Development and Partnerships and MusiCares Board Member. "We are delighted to partner with Warner, its artists and songwriters, and welcome them to our platforms."
This deal follows similar agreements between Facebook and publishers Universal Music, Sony/ATV Music Publishing, Kobalt Music Publishing, Global Music Rights, HFA/Rumblefish, and ICE.
