GRAMMY winner Ed Sheeran will be playing a certain city for the first time in his career this Sunday when he arrives in "fictitious" Springfield (state unknown) for a guest cameo appearance on "The Simpsons."

Sheeran is set to appear in the season 29 premiere of "The Simpsons" on Jan. 7. The episode, a parody of La La Land titled "Haw-Haw Land" pairs Sheeran as love interest Brendan with the family's most musical member, Lisa Simpson, who accompanies him on saxophone in the brief preview of the episode.
"We had a perfect part for him," executive producer Al Jean told Entertainment Weekly about Sheeran's character. "So we said, 'Oh, great, we'll have him do this!' And we recorded him over the phone from England."
Over the years, "The Simpsons" have featured a healthy dose of GRAMMY winners on the show, including Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Britney Spears, Elvis Costello, Metallica, 50 Cent, Cyndi Lauper, White Stripes, and more, placing Sheeran in good company.
