Pop superstar Mariah Carey just set a new world record off the strength of her enduring holiday hit, "All I Want For Christmas Is You." After breaking three Guinness World Records last November, the eternal Christmas classic has now solidified Carey as the first and only artist to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart across four different decades.

As confirmed by Billboard earlier this week, the track entered the new decade at the top of the latest Billboard Hot 100 chart, dated Jan. 4, 2020, for the third consecutive week. The track marks her first No. 1 hit of the current decade and her 19th chart-topper overall. Her record includes 14 chart leaders in the '90s followed by four winners in the 2000s. "Christmas," which also topped the Holiday 100 chart for the 40th week, is Carey's solo chart champion of the 2010s.

The track's recent chart success is bolstered by a newly released music video for "Christmas," which debuted ahead of the holiday season peak last month.
Still, it's been a long (sleigh) ride for the track to reach No. 1. Originally released as the lead single off Carey's 1994 album Merry Christmas, her first holiday album and her fourth full-length overall, "All I Want For Christmas Is You" topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart this past December for the first time ever—25 years after its original release—after reaching the top 10 for three consecutive years since 2017.
The track is only the second holiday song ever to best the Hot 100 chart, following 1958's "The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don't Be Late)," a GRAMMY-winning novelty Christmas song from David Seville, the stage name of Ross Bagdasarian Sr., and his cartoon band, The Chipmunks.
As the first-ever artist to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart across four separate decades, Carey beats out icons like Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Elton John, Janet Jackson, Madonna, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears and Usher, who have each topped the same chart across three decades.

The success of "Christmas," her most recent chart-topping hit, places Carey among the artists with the most No. 1 records overall, with The Beatles (20) leading the scoreboard followed Carey (19) and Rihanna (14).
Most recently, Carey completed the All I Want For Christmas Is You Tour, as well as special All I Want For Christmas Is You holiday shows as part of her Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace, in celebration of the track's 25th anniversary last year.
Carey is a five-time GRAMMY winner who holds a total of 34 overall nominations. She won the Best New Artist category at the 33rd GRAMMY Awards held in 1991.
