Dinosaur Jr. frontman/guitarist J Mascis has amassed a fairly huge collection of guitars and recording gear over the years – so much so that he was running out of useable space to record.

In order to offload his treasure trove of gear, Mascis is partnering with Reverb.com to open a custom shop on the website where he will start selling his collection.

The "Official J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr. Shop" will open on Oct. 31, and will feature more than 100 guitars, amplifiers, effect pedals, synths and other gear and equipment from Mascis' personal collection.

Speaking to Spin about the forthcoming sale, Mascis admitted that it's difficult to part with so many treasured instruments, but, "you've got to try to clear out the gear you're not playing as much anymore. Plus, if I can get this gear into a good home, I'll have more room to buy some more stuff."

A variety of notable musicians have sold personal gear via Reverb, including Cheap Trick's Rick Nielsen, Joe Bonamassa, Billy Corgan, and Wilco.
