GRAMMY-nominated producer/engineer team The Rascals, featuring Khris Riddick-Tynes and Leon Thomas, have crafted the sounds behind hits by Post Malone, Ariana Grande, Kehlani and many more.
Riddick-Tynes and Thomas share a similar musical background, growing up in families full of songwrtiers, producers and musicians. Their extensive experience speaking the language of music from a young age has no doubt helped forge their unique talents for collaboration.
"As a producer, you are the conduit for the information [the artist] wants to disseminate to the public," said Riddick-Tynes. "You're responsible for the final product. You do have to guide, you do have to suggest, but there's a way to do it where it's still theirs. They still have to feel like it's their product"
The duo discuss how they're able to help artists with, "Ripping out a page of their diary and turning it into a song," as Thomas so poetically puts it. This past year, the duo earned a GRAMMY nomination for Best Rap Song for their work on "Gold Roses" by Rick Ross feat. Drake.
"Relatability is a huge thing," Thomas added. "Listening to music that makes me feel something is really, really important."
