Like her first single" No Tears Left To Cry," Grande's second single is an anthem, but this one is a nod to all the ladies. The pop song is a proclamation of the power that lies within the female identity. "When you try to come for me, I keep flourishing/ And he see the universe when I'm in company/ It's all in me," the songstress sings.
The accompanying video is an out-of-this-world trip into a universe in which Grande is larger than life. She lays like a goddess in a sea made of purple, pink and blue hues, unphased as men throw words like "fake" and "annoying" at her. She even recreates an all-female version of Italian Renaissance painter Michelangelo's "Creation Of Adam" fresco painting from the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel in Rome. The video, Grande tweeted out, was directed by Dave Meyers.
Grande has been teasing the release of Sweetener, her fourth album, the last couple of months. Now available for pre-order and set to be released on Aug. 17, she dropped "No Tears Left To Cry" in April, released the album title in May, and recently teased the album cover.
Since her return to music, Grande has come back stronger than ever and "God Is A Woman" continues her unstoppable momentum.
