About Buddy Guy

"I've never missed a gig yet. Music makes people happy, and that's why I go on doing it — I like to see everybody smile."

  • Born George Guy July 30, 1936, in Lettsworth, Louisiana.
  • Buddy Guy released his debut album, I Left My Blues In San Francisco, in 1967. His first album to chart on the Billboard 200 was 1991's Damn Right I've Got The Blues, which reached No. 136 and was certified gold. Guy's classic catalog includes blues standards such as "Sweet Little Angel," "Stone Crazy" and "Feels Like Rain."
  • Guy won his first career GRAMMY for Best Contemporary Blues Album for Damn Right I've Got The Blues for 1991. He won the same category two years later for Feels Like Rain. He made his GRAMMY stage debut at the 51st GRAMMY Awards, performing "Bo Diddley" with B.B. King, John Mayer and Keith Urban in tribute to Bo Diddley.
  • Did you know? In the '60s, Guy played with Muddy Waters as a house guitarist at Chess Records.
