For singer/songwriter and producer Skylar Simone, ProTools is more than just recording software — it's her creative lifeline. After feeling limited in studio sessions early in her career, she taught herself the program during the pandemic, determined to gain full control over her sound.
From her simple home studio setup — complete with a laptop, Apollo interface, and closet-turned-vocal booth — Simone crafts tracks that channel mood and atmosphere. "I love to turn the lights down and zone out in my little closet studio," she shares. But with all that inspiration flowing, she’s learned an important lesson: save often. "Too many times I forgot to press save and lost the entire session. Don’t be like me." For more episodes of It Goes To 11, visit GRAMMY.com/videos.
