As a DJ, musician and producer, San Holo prefers to let his beats and sounds speak for him. He gravitated toward guitar and music production classes at a young age, finding his creative expression through melodies and sounds as opposed to words.

"I always felt this urge to really express myself in different ways," he says. "My peers, they all wanted to sound like John Mayer or Jimi Hendrix. And I was like, I wanna sound like me … A great record, to me, is when I can feel someone's personality." For more episodes of Behind The Board, visit GRAMMY.com/videos.
