Before Mariah Carey was a five-time GRAMMY winner and one of the best-selling artists of all time, the 1991 GRAMMYs hinted at the success that was to come. Along with winning Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female for her breakthrough single, "Vision Of Love," the then-rising star was crowned Best New Artist.

Accepting the award with heartfelt gratitude, Carey thanked her collaborators and fans, saying she was "just really thankful." The win marked the start of an extraordinary career defined by record-breaking feats, vocal brilliance, and timeless pop and R&B classics.

Just ahead of the 2026 GRAMMYs, Carey will be honored as MusiCares' Person of the Year for her longstanding commitment to helping people in need — another example of her remarkable legacy.
