Watch Recording Academy leaders and members reintroduce the NO FAKES Act, alongside Senators Chris Coons (D-DE), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), and Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Reps. Madeleine Dean (D-PA) and Maria Salazar (R-FL), and leaders from the Motion Picture Association (MPA), Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), SAG-AFTRA, Warner Music Group, YouTube, and the Human Artistry Campaign. The announcement took place during a press conference in Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., during the Recording Academy’s annual GRAMMYs on the Hill Advocacy Day on Wednesday, April 9, 2025. Advocacy Day also saw music makers connect with members of Congress to advocate for incentivizing new music production through the HITS Act, protecting creators against harmful AI through the NO FAKES Act, and preserving continued federal support for the arts and cultural institutions.
The announcement was part of the Recording Academy’s annual GRAMMYs on the Hill, a music advocacy initiative uniting congressional leaders and music makers to champion creators' rights and honor those who have helped shape a better future for music. Music's Biggest Week in Washington, D.C., the three-day event also included the 2025 GRAMMYs On The Hill Awards, which honored country music legend and seven-time GRAMMY winner Randy Travis as well as United States Representatives Linda Sánchez (D-CA) and Ron Estes (R-KS) for their steadfast support of music creators. GRAMMYs on the Hill 2025 culminated with the second annual Future Forum, a conference exploring critical issues impacting the music community.
