Staying small to win, and to invest in artist development, this boutique indie label nourishes acts' growth and promotes their albums for years.

Nashville's Dualtone has been an indie label with GRAMMY nominations and wins, such as the Lumineers and Guy Clark. Co-founder Scott Robinson spoke with Nashville Chapter in 2014 about what makes Dualtone different from the other labels. Their headcount is only about half a dozen, augmented by interns, and their departments such as Promotion and A&R might be the same but the whole department might be one staff and one intern. This lets them nurture artists over years, a step at a time, going for growth instead of needing hits.
