After a whirlwind breakthrough with her record-breaking album She's So Unusual, Cyndi Lauper officially cemented her place as rock's it-girl when she won Best New Artist at the 1985 GRAMMYs. As she excitedly waved and beamed, Lauper delivered a spirited acceptance speech thanking her team and band.
The star also made sure she praised the World Wrestling Federation and wrestler "Captain" Lou Albano, who starred in her "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" video. Her wrestling connection even extended to her first GRAMMY win, as Hulk Hogan accompanied her on stage as her "bodyguard" and offered a muscle flex to close things out.
