National Officers
The Recording Academy’s elected officers, in partnership with the organization’s CEO, lead the Board of Trustees and Recording Academy senior staff to strategically guide and shape the mission and policies of the Academy. These esteemed individuals represent the Membership of the Academy in all Academy business, as well as all Academy events and functions.
Dr. Chelsey Green
Dr. Chelsey Green serves as Chair on the Board of Trustees of the Recording Academy®. The Chair represents the Board of Trustees and, by extension, the Membership of the Academy in all Academy business, as well as all Academy events and functions. She is the presiding officer of the Recording Academy and presides at all meetings of the Board of Trustees. In this role, she oversees the organization’s functions and policies, including the GRAMMY Awards. She also chairs the Executive Committee and serves as a member of each Standing Committee, and in an Ex Officio capacity on every other committee appointed by the Board. Dr. Green is the first Black woman and youngest person to hold the position of Chair of the Board of Trustees in the Recording Academy’s 68-year history, marking two historic milestones for the Academy.
Dr. Green has been a Recording Academy member for 13 years and most recently served as Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees from 2023-2025. Her leadership roles have also included At-Large Trustee, member of the Academy’s Executive Committee, Co-Chair of the National Awards and Nominations (A&N) Committee, and A&N Liaison to the National Membership Committee and the Planning & Governance Committee. As Co-Chair of the A&N Committee, she chaired several task forces year-round which resulted in multiple landmark proposals shaping the GRAMMY Awards process.
A Billboard-charting recording artist, entrepreneur, educator, and Houston, Texas, native, Dr. Green is a thoughtful architect of contemporary sound and cultural change committed to expanding the sound, scope, and soul of the music industry. As the bandleader, violinist, violist, and vocalist behind her ensemble Chelsey Green and The Green Project, Dr. Green fuses her classical training with jazz, R&B, soul, and funk. Described as "passionate, electrifying, and innovative," she breaks down stereotypes of traditional violin and viola playing. The ensemble’s genre-defying performances and five acclaimed studio projects have landed on Billboard's Contemporary Jazz charts and captivated audiences worldwide through tours and festival appearances. Dr. Green has also performed alongside icons such as Stevie Wonder, Lizzo, Samara Joy, Kirk Franklin, The War and Treaty, and Wu-Tang Clan. Recent milestones include her Billboard No. 1 single as a featured artist with pianist and producer Nathan Mitchell, and orchestral debuts with the National Symphony Orchestra, the Alexandria Symphony and the United States Air Force Band.
An advocate for music education and equity, she frequently leads educational concerts, artist residencies and community workshops and is an associate professor at Berklee College of Music. Her writing has been featured in The New York Times, and she is a sought-after keynote and commencement speaker in the U.S. and internationally. Dr. Green completed her Doctorate of Musical Arts (D.M.A) degree in 2017 at the University of Maryland College Park.

Evan Bogart
Evan Bogart serves as Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Recording Academy®. In this role, he sits on the Audit/Finance, Executive, Membership, and Planning/Governance Committees; and provides assistance as requested by the Chair.
Bogart also serves as Chair of the Academy’s Songwriters & Composers Wing, through which he helped create the Songwriter Of The Year Award, established at the 65th GRAMMY Awards®. He previously held positions as National Trustee and President of the Academy’s Los Angeles Chapter.
An award-winning songwriter, producer, and creative executive, Bogart has had a hand in creating some of the most indelible hits of the past 20 years. Some of his most enduring credits include Beyoncé’s GRAMMY Award-winning “Halo” and Rihanna’s worldwide No. 1 “SOS”, in addition to iconic records for Britney Spears, Demi Lovato, Enrique Iglesias, Jason Derulo, Jennifer Lopez, Lizzo, Madonna, and countless others. Son of Casablanca Records founder Neil Bogart, Evan cut his teeth as a teenager in the Interscope Records A&R department working on projects by 2Pac and Eminem, the latter whom he helped sign to the label. Bogart also worked as an artist manager and booking agent for the likes of Maroon 5 and OneRepublic, respectively, before successfully making the leap to the creative side of the business.
Currently, he is CEO of Seeker Music, which was recently named the No. 2 Most Innovative Music Company of 2025 by Fast Company. Seeker is a modern-day music publishing and rights management company with a catalog roster that includes Christopher Cross, the Go-Go's, Jay Sean, Jon Bellion, Joan Jett, Mark Morrison ("Return of the Mack"), and Run the Jewels, among others, as well as seminal hits from 2Pac, Beyoncé, Blake Shelton, DJ Snake, Donna Summer, Drake, Eminem, Harry Styles, JAY-Z, Luke Combs, Maren Morris, Marshmello, Miley Cyrus (“Wrecking Ball”), Pitbull, Post Malone, Shaboozey (“A Bar Song (Tipsy)”), Whitney Houston, and many more. Jennifer Blakeman
Jennifer Blakeman serves as Secretary/Treasurer on the Board of Trustees of the Recording Academy®. In this role, she sits on the Executive, Membership and Planning/Governance Committees; and also serves as Chair of the Audit/ Finance Committee. She oversees the custody of all books, records and papers of the Recording Academy and is also tasked with certifying the bylaws and all resolutions and other documents of the Recording Academy as true and correct.
Blakeman is the Chief Rights and Royalties Officer at indie powerhouse Seeker Music, where she is constantly working to streamline enormous amounts of data while creating opportunities for all stakeholders to understand the complex arena of rights and royalties as they work today. For more than four decades, she has fostered the careers of some of the most popular artists and songwriters in the world. From her early days as a Warner Bros. recording artist produced by Eddie Van Halen and Ted Templeman, to serving in numerous senior executive and creative roles for major and indie publishers, record labels and film studios, Blakeman developed a holistic, creative-centric view of the music business which extends to her ongoing passionate commitment to the creator.
Prior to Seeker, Blakeman was Chief Creative Officer for one77 Music and Atlas Music Publishing, where she was responsible for acquisitions, creative and synch activity, and the rosters which included Counting Crows, Toby Gad and Van Halen. Before joining Atlas, she spent a decade at Universal Music Publishing, where she rose to SVP of Creative with a roster including Anthony Hamilton, Insane Clown Posse, Justin Timberlake, Limp Biskit, Linkin Park, Ne-Yo, Skylar Grey, and T-Pain. Prior to Universal Music Publishing, Blakeman served in creative roles for Atlantic Records, Universal Pictures and Zomba Publishing.
Additionally, as an accomplished musician and ASCAP songwriter and publisher, she toured in the ’80s as a keyboardist for Billy Idol, Brian Wilson and Savage Garden, among many others.
For two decades she has been an adjunct professor at NYU and taught more than 1,000 students in the music business degree program, many of whom can now be found working throughout the industry in leadership roles.

Tammy Hurt
Tammy Hurt serves as Chair Emeritus on the Board of Trustees of the Recording Academy®. In this role, she serves on the Audit/Finance, Executive, Membership, and Planning/Governance Committees and exercises such powers and performs such duties as determined by rules or regulations approved by the Board of Trustees. She also serves on the Boards of the Latin Recording Academy® (Latin GRAMMY Awards®), the GRAMMY Museum®, and MusiCares®.
Hurt served as Chairwoman of the Recording Academy from 2021-2025, where she guided the organization through a pivotal era of transformation—modernizing governance, advancing transparency, expanding diversity, and reaffirming the Academy’s steadfast commitment to music creators everywhere. She was the first openly LGBTQ+ Chair, a landmark for the Recording Academy, the second Atlantan, and the third woman to have served in the position in the Academy’s 68-year history. Her leadership and vision continue to shape the future of music, both within the Academy and beyond.
A lifelong music creator and advocate, Hurt is an accomplished drummer, music producer and Emmy-nominated television producer. As founder of Placement Music, a boutique entertainment firm launched in 2010, she has delivered custom music and scoring for major clients including FOX Sports, Paramount Pictures, CBS, MTV, HBO, BET, SONY, the NFL, and NASCAR. Her passion project Sonic Rebel blends original high-fidelity, genre-blurred music beds with mashups, and DJ remixes featuring live drums.
In 2025, Hurt was honored as a Billboard Women in Music recipient, recognized by Alicia Keys' She Is the Music, and presented with a proclamation from the Atlanta City Council for her unwavering commitment to advancing the music community. Widely celebrated for her entrepreneurial vision, civic leadership, and creative achievements, she has received numerous accolades, including two Silver Telly Awards and a Hollywood Music in Media Award for “Best Score, Special Feature”, a Creative Excellence Award from Women In Film and Television, Catalyst Magazine’s Top 25 Entrepreneurs and Ones to Watch, a Most Admired CEO award by the Atlanta Business Chronicle, and a TEDxAtlanta speaker invitation. She led the successful campaign to pass Georgia’s first standalone music tax incentive—the Georgia Music Investment Act—and was formally commended by Governor Brian Kemp for her national impact on the music industry. She continues her advocacy as a member of the Georgia Film, Music & Digital Entertainment Commission.
