UMG To Add Global Rights Divestitures To EMI Package?
Following last week's news that U.S. indie-label group A2IM was asking the Federal Trade Commission to block Universal Music Group's acquisition of EMI Music because UMG's divestment proposals only covered concessions in Europe, UMG is reportedly now in discussions with the European Commission to add global rights divestitures to the package, according to Billboard.biz. The EU has until Sept. 9 to decide if it will market test the revised package. (8/13)
