On Feb. 26, the six-year anniversary of the killing of 17 year-old Trayvon Martin – an event which started a national outcry and was a formative moment in the beginnings of the Black Lives Matter movement – Paramount Network unveiled their first official trailer for Rest In Power: The Trayvon Martin Story, a documentary series on the events of Martin's death co-produced by Jay-Z.

The unscripted six-part docuseries will feature both new interviews and archival footage taken from the days and weeks surrounding the event, while also focusing on a longer analysis of how the killing affected the country as a whole and helped start a national movement. In developing the series, Jay-Z was joined in his role as Executive Producer by Martin's parents, Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin (who co-authored the book Rest In Power: The Enduring Life Of Trayvon Martin), as well as Chachi Senior, Michael Gasparro, Jenner Furst, Julia Willoughby Nason and Nick Sandow.

Earlier this month, Jay-Z also made a surprise appearance at the sixth annual Peace Walk & Peace Talk in Miami Gardens, hosted by the Trayvon Martin Foundation in honor of what would have been Martin's 23rd birthday. "We want to make sure that we stand and support and never forget that Trayvon serves as a beacon of light to the people out here. So you guys never have to go through the pain and hurt that these guys went through," said the GRAMMY-winning rapper in a speech at the event.

Rest In Power: The Trayvon Martin Story will premiere this July on Paramount Network (formerly Spike TV). Exact premiere date details are still forthcoming.
