Nearly a month ago, the music world received an early Christmas present from beloved garage rock hero Jack White in the form of a spastic sound and video collage teasing a brand new album called Boarding House Reach. Today, White gives us two new cuts from his forthcoming project, "Connected By Love," and "Respect Commander."

White recently told Rolling Stone that "Connected by Love" was the first song written in his apartment in Nashville where he works on new songs. “I just started humming notes out loud, staring out the window," said White. "After that, you really can't explain it. You just have to get out of the way and let it happen. And you don't really notice it as it's happening."

While the song has the familiar soulful spirit with an urgent edge that White does better than anyone, his fans may notice both of the songs are built on a new foundation. White worked in three locations to create the album – Los Angeles, New York, and Nashville – and enlisted a fresh group of musicians as his band, including drummer Louis Cato (Beyoncé, Q-Tip, John Legend), bassist Charlotte Kemp Muhl (The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger), synthesizer player DJ Harrison, keyboardist Neal Evans (Soulive, Talib Kweli, John Scofield), percussionist Bobby Allende (David Byrne), and background vocalists Ann & Regina McCrary from the legendary gospel trio the McCrary Sisters.

Though White put out a collection of acoustic recordings in 2016, Boarding House Reach is the true studio follow up to White's 2014 album Lazaretto, which earned White the GRAMMY for Best Rock Performance at 57th GRAMY Awards the for the title track. White and his label Third Man Records have not yet announced a release date for the new album, but White has confirmed three festival appearances this summer, giving fans a lot to look forward to in 2018.
