GRAMMY Camp, a five-day musical experience for high school students, is coming to Miami in 2020, the GRAMMY Museum has announced.
The non-residential camp will take place July 28–Aug. 1, 2020 at the Royal Caribbean Entertainment Studios on the Florida International University’s Biscayne Bay Campus.
It will give high school students from all over the country the opportunity to spend five days immersed in music activities with industry professionals, including audio engineering, songwriting, vocal performance, instrumental performance, electronic music production and more. The camp is also held in Los Angeles at the University of Southern California's Thorton School of Music.
"GRAMMY Camp is one of the most immersive summer camps for high school students interested in a career in music, giving young people the opportunity to study with music industry professionals, resulting in a genuine learning experience about life in the music industry," said GRAMMY Museum President Michael Sticka. "Expanding our education programs to the Chapters of the Recording Academy is a primary goal of the Museum, so we are thrilled to partner with Royal Caribbean to bring this program to the Miami area for the first time."
Royal Caribbean will cover $1,400 of the $1,500 tuition fee for students who live within 100 miles of the Miami area.
The Los Angeles camp will take place July 14–Saturday, July 18, 2020. In the past, GRAMMY Campers in L.A. have been a part of conversations with the likes of singer/songwriter JoJo. Maroon 5, Tori Kelly and Colbie Caillat have also participated in camp activities. GRAMMY Camp alumni have released albums and have worked with the likes of Drake, Kehlani and other pop stars of the time.
