Colombian joropo music group Cimarrón will tour the U.S. this summer in support of their recently released album Orinoco.

The tour will launch at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., then head to Lowell, Mass., and other cities including Baltimore, Philadelphia and New York City. The tour will close out in Bangor, Maine at the American Folk Festival. Other festival stops will include the Lowell Folk Festival and the Newport Folk Festival.

The group is leading a new wave of colombian joropo music with their unique style of Colombian joropo music, mixing Andalusian, indigenous and African roots with acoustic and electronic sounds. Cimarrón was nominated for best Traditional World Music Album for Sí, Soy Llanero - Joropo Music From The Orinoco Plains Of Colombia at the 47th GRAMMY Awards
