Coming off of a huge night at the 61st GRAMMY Awards, folk singer/songwriter Brandi Carlile joined a host of artists and music industry professionals in paying tribute to the late Aretha Franklin, during the "Aretha! A GRAMMY Celebration For The Queen Of Soul" airing on March 10.
"I don't know that there's ever been a more dynamic and impactful human than Aretha Franklin," says Carlile. "It was almost like she had this direct conduit to god.. I think she was divinely inspired."
Carlile lends her powerful voice to Franklin's "Do Right Woman, Do Right Man" during the tribute concert, though she names "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" as a favorite of hers, saying, "Especially as a gay woman, a gay mother, to know that so many kinds of women can feel like a natural woman, Aretha gave us permission and empowered us in a really big way."
Tune in this weekend to see all the special moments celebrating the icon. "Aretha! A GRAMMY Celebration For The Queen Of Soul" will air on Sun., March 10 at 9 p.m. EST / 8 p.m. CT on CBS.
