Last night, the 71st Emmy Awards kicked off in Los Angeles with the night one of the Creative Arts Emmy Awards. "Aretha! A GRAMMY Celebration For The Queen Of Soul" won the Emmy for Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Variety Series or Special

The Emmy award goes to the special's producers, CBS, AEG Ehrlich Ventures, LLC, as well as its team of audio mixers: production mixer Paul Wittman, re-recording mixer Josh Morton, music mixers Paul Sandweiss and Kristian Pedregon, monitor mixer Michael Parker, house PA mixer Patrick Baltzell and Christian Schrader for supplemental audio.

Competition in the category was stiff, as "Aretha! A GRAMMY Celebration..." beat out "Carpool Karaoke: When Corden Met McCartney Live From Liverpool," "Last Week Tonight With John Oliver," The 61st GRAMMY Awards and The Oscars.
