Last night, the 71st Emmy Awards kicked off in Los Angeles with the night one of the Creative Arts Emmy Awards. "Aretha! A GRAMMY Celebration For The Queen Of Soul" won the Emmy for Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Variety Series or Special.
The Emmy award goes to the special's producers, CBS, AEG Ehrlich Ventures, LLC, as well as its team of audio mixers: production mixer Paul Wittman, re-recording mixer Josh Morton, music mixers Paul Sandweiss and Kristian Pedregon, monitor mixer Michael Parker, house PA mixer Patrick Baltzell and Christian Schrader for supplemental audio.

Competition in the category was stiff, as "Aretha! A GRAMMY Celebration..." beat out "Carpool Karaoke: When Corden Met McCartney Live From Liverpool," "Last Week Tonight With John Oliver," The 61st GRAMMY Awards and The Oscars.
The tribute special, which took place on Jan. and aired March 10 on CBS, featured performances by a staggering list of artists, including Yolanda Adams, Andra Day, Shirley Caesar, Alessia Cara, Brandi Carlile, Chloe X Halle, Kelly Clarkson, Common, Celine Dion, H.E.R., Jennifer Hudson, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Patti LaBelle, Janelle Monáe, SZA and BeBe Winans.
The unforgettable night of music was hosted by movie and television actor, writer, director, and producer Tyler Perry.
The tribute special unfolded with many memorable musical tributes to the Queen Of Soul, which the team of mix engineers handled flawlessly. Congratulations to the winners!
