The team behind Quincy, the documentary starring GRAMMY-winner Quincy Jones, celebrated a big win for Best Music Film at the 61st GRAMMY Awards. The crew awarded includes co-directors/writers Alan Hicks and Rashida Jones—Quincy's daughter—and producer Paula DuPré Pesmen, who all took to the stage to accept the award. It marks the first-ever GRAMMY Awards for the trio and is Quincy's monumental 28th win.
The documentary, released in 2018 on Netflix, features archival footage spanning the decades of the 85-year-old industry icon's incomparable mark on music and culture, along with interviews from the many lives he has touched. Actor/director Jones' is one of Quincy's seven children and came into the public eye as an actress with her role in hit TV series "Parks And Rec." It is the first film she has directed.
"No one's career has had the impact on culture decade after decade like my father's has," Jones said in her acceptance speech. "With this movie we aimed to show that what underscores his unstoppable drive, what helps him crash through racial barriers, to master multiple genres, to decategorize artistry, to refuse to be limited in any capacity, is his enormous heart and unwavering faith in humanity."
The other films nominated were Life In 12 Bars, Whitney, Itzhak and The King.

The movie joins a group of great music films, including last year's winner, Allen Hughes' "The Defiant Ones," which tells the story of Interscope Records visionary Jimmy Iovine and GRAMMY-winning super-producer/rapper Dr. Dre.
