Chicago
About the Chicago Chapter
From blues and jazz to house and hip-hop, Chicago’s music legacy is woven into the cultural fabric of the city and echoes across the Midwest. It’s a place where genres are born, communities are built, and music reflects both grit and soul—from South Side clubs to grand downtown stages.
Founded in 1961 as the Recording Academy’s third Chapter, the Chicago Chapter supports not only the Chicago music community, but also music creators across 11 states of the Midwest: North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio. In partnership with GRAMMY U and MusiCares, we present year-round programs that celebrate the diversity, creativity, and voices of our region.
Please take a few minutes and explore not only what the Chicago Chapter is doing, but what all the Chapters have to offer in the way of professional development and opportunities for our members.
