General Questions
Engineers and Producers that worked on genre albums are not nominees. However, if the album wins, eligibly credited Engineers and Producers that worked on greater than 50% playing time of the album are considered winners and receive a GRAMMY statuette.
No, executive producers are not nominees in any category.
Mastering engineers are only nominees in Album Of The Year, Record Of The Year, Immersive Audio, Historical Album, and in the engineering categories.
No. Only eligibly credited roles are eligible to receive an award. Please see the rule book for further details.
Possibly. In the case of Album of the Year, all eligibly credited artists, songwriters, producers, engineers, mixers, and mastering engineers who worked on greater than 20% playing time of the album are considered winners. If your contribution is less than that, you may be entitled to receive an achievement certificate.
No. Session musicians who are not primary artists, producers, or credited collaborators generally do not receive GRAMMY awards, though they may request a participation certificate.
No, unless the song itself won in a Songwriting category (like Song of the Year or Best Song in a genre). Songwriters on album tracks do not receive GRAMMYs for an album.
No. Only officially credited contributors who meet the Academy’s thresholds receive GRAMMYs. You may be eligible for a certificate of participation.
No, only credited performing Artist(s) are considered nominees.
No, only credited songwriter(s) of newly written material are considered nominee(s).
Bands, Ensembles, and Large Groups
All credited band/group members think they are all nominees for nominated entry that have a large groups (10-20). However, only the designated leader is considered the nominee. The rest of group members are not considered nominees, but will still be invited to show.

Groups of 9 members or less will all be individual nominees, but if your group has 10-20 members we will ask for a group leader who will be the designated nominee for the group as a whole. Conductors are still nominees in this category, as well as featured artists that are 50% playing time on the album.

In groups of 9 group members or fewer, current and established members of a group (unlike session players or hires for a record) are eligible to receive nomination status. Please ensure that all names are individually listed as "Group Members" in the Online Entry Process as well as included in the submitted label copy/liner notes. It is important to note that appropriately crediting all group members ensures their nominee journey and avoids the need for late additions or credit corrections.
Rap and R&B
For Best Rap Album, Best R&B Album, Best Reggae Album and similar album categories, only the artist is the nominee.
For Best Rap Performance and all performance categories, only the artist(s) is the nominee.
remixes
No, only the remixer(s) receive the nomination and win.
Songwriter(s) of sampled or interpolated material are *not *considered to be nominees or GRAMMY recipients; they are however eligible for a certificate.
dance/electronic
While mixers and producers - along with the artist(s) - are nominees for Best Dance Electronic Recording and Best Dance Pop Recording, only the artist(s) of greater than 50% playing time of the album are considered nominees for Best Dance/Electronic Album.
music for visual media
Nominees are Principal Artist(s) with significant contributing performances, and/or in-studio Producer(s) of a majority of the tracks on the album. Up to two album Producers and Music Supervisors are eligible. This category is unique in that it goes through a vetting process after nomination announcement to determine nominee recipients. After the vetting process, which usually takes a couple of weeks, nominee recipients are added to the website.
Only the composers are the nominees.
Classical Composition
Nominees are Principal Artist(s) with significant contributing performances, and/or in-studio Producer(s) of a majority of the tracks on the album. Music Video / Film & Musical Theater
For Best Music Video, the only nominees are the Artist(s), Video Producer(s) and Video Director(s). Executive Producers are not nominees.
For Best Music Film, the only nominees are the Artist(s), Producer(s) and Director(s). Executive Producers are not nominees.
The nominees in Best Musical Theater are up to six Principal Vocalists as selected by the entering Media Company or Member, the album producers of greater than 50% playing time of the album, and composers, and lyricists of greater than 50% playing time of new material (provided the score has never been previously nominated). If an entering Media Company or Member deems the show to be an “ensemble cast”, none of the vocalists would be considered a nominee; however, if the album wins, the album vocalists would be eligible for an Achievement Certificate.
Jazz
Group members are eligible for a nomination if there are less than 10 group members and they all played on greater than 50% playing time of the album.
Artist(s), producer(s) & engineer/mixer(s) of greater than 50% playing time on the album are eligible for a statuette as well as the group leader and group members if the group is under 10. If the group has ten or more members, only the group leader will receive a statuette.

Only the narrator is the nominee. The author is not considered. (P&E wins are still recognized)
