You might say U2 have some "experience" with regard to the upper echelon of the Billboard 200.

With their latest LP, Songs Of Experience, the GRAMMY-winning group has scored their eighth No. 1 album on the Billboard 200. The album hit the summit with 186,000 equivalent album units for the week ending Dec. 7, including 180,000 in traditional album sales, according to Billboard

The most recent U2 LP to top the Billboard 200 was 2009's No Line On The Horizon, which debuted with 484,000 units sold in its first week. 

U2 now is the lone group in history the with No. 1s in the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s and 2010s. The Irish quartet's collection of chart-topping albums now includes Songs Of ExperienceNo Line On The HorizonHow To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb (2004), Pop (1997), Zooropa (1993), Achtung Baby (1991), Rattle And Hum (1988), and The Joshua Tree (1987).

Two of their albums, How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb and The Joshua Tree, have won the GRAMMY for Album Of The Year.

U2 are now tied with Kenny Chesney and Madonna in the No. 6 position for the most No. 1 albums on the chart. They trail the Beatles (19), Jay-Z (14), Bruce Springsteen and Barbra Streisand (11), Elvis Presley (10), and Garth Brooks and the Rolling Stones (nine).
