Five-time GRAMMY nominee J. Cole used Twitter on April 16 to announce his new album, KOD, will drop April 20. But the surprise way he rolled it out was exceptional.

The first anyone learned something was brewing was Cole's April 16 tweet that "first-come first-serve" followers in New York should leave their phones, cameras and bags behind and come to the Gramercy Theatre.
Hours later, the cryptic call was followed by a partially explanatory tweet reading: "New album. KOD 4/20." The internet went wild with many saying this was their perfect follow-up to Beychella.
The Gramercy Theatre event turned out to be a surprise show, during which Billboard reported J. Cole played all 12 songs from his album, including the standout track "1985" — the rapper's birth year.
Life, Twitter and the remaining days until April 20 got a lot more interesting when a new, similar tweet went out for a secret location concert in London, with the message: "London. Meet me here today. First come first serve."
This trans-Atlantic hype might just be starting to heat up. Will London be J. Cole's last pre-release performance of KOD?
