GRAMMY-winning country singer/songwriter Garth Brooks has been named as the inaugural inductee into the Live Hall Of Fame, created by Pollstar. Both Brooks' induction and the formation of the new Hall Of Fame were formally announced on Feb. 8 during a Q&A session at Pollstar Live!
"It's a total shock and quite an honor," Brooks told the crowd in attendance at Pollstar Live! in response to his Hall Of Fame Induction. "I don't think an entertainer is anything without the people who allow him to do this."
Throughout the 1990s, Brooks rode chart-topping record sales from small clubs and bars in Oklahoma to multiple world tours selling out arenas across the globe. After taking temporary retirement from touring and recording in 2001 to see his children grow up and finish high school, Brooks returned to touring after a 16-year hiatus, smashing ticket sales records along the way.
Just this past year, on the heels of scoring his first No. 1 radio country single in over 10 years with "Ask Me How I Know", Brooks embarked on a massive headlining tour with his wife Trisha Yearwood. The pair sold out Nashville's Bridgestone Arena for a record-setting seven nights. Soon after, it was announced that Brooks would be headlining several summer music festivals, a career-first move, as the country icon had never previously played a major U.S. music festival.
Tickets to the first of Brooks' two 2018 festival appearances – the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo on Feb. 27 – are already sold out, but general admission and VIP passes to his second appearance at Stagecoach Music Festival in Indio, Calif., on April 29 are still available.
