While big festivals like Austin City Limits may boast massive names as headliners, they also provide opportunities for rising talent to hit the stage. Local Austin singer Alesia Lani was one performer showing audiences what Austin has to offer weekend two of the three-day festival. Of the chance to share her music in front of ACL, she said it was a dream turned into a reality.
"It's a big dream. It's great that they give local opportunities and chances, and me being an authentic R&B artist that's a really big deal and I'm really very happy to be here," she told the Recording Academy's On The Road host Alina Vission.
Austin is known for being a music hub and the singer said it stands out because "There's so much room for opportunity, there's so much room to grab your goals and get out there and talk to people."
Watch the video above to hear Alesia Lani talk more about what playing the local festival means to her, the importance of opportunity for music artists, how Austin differs from other music towns and new music she’s working on now.
