As part of GRAMMY.com's inaugural TRANScendent Sounds Fest, Chicago rapper KC Ortiz performs "Know It," a swaggy anthem featured on her 2017 album, Church Tapes. Her taste for "Southern Luxury" can be heard in the track's booming bass and raw production, while her stylistic raps and empowering lyrics trace her inspiring story from poverty to rap stardom.

A lifelong music devotee who grew up singing in her local church choir in Mobile, Ala., Ortiz turned to music after she was discharged from the U.S. Air Force after coming out as a Trans woman. She now uses her art and music to inspire others to achieve their dreams and fight for a better life.

Presented by GRAMMY.com, TRANScendent Sounds Fest (TSF) is a virtual music festival spotlighting a diverse roster of Transgender artists. While TSF is meant to serve as a celebration, it also brings awareness to the ever-present social hurdles of the community at large and the disproportionate levels of violence that specifically harm Black Trans women.
