Alicia Keys Talks Music Inspiration, Staying True To Her Vision

GRAMMY winner reveals why the importance of trusting her instincts and being her own person has helped her during her career.

In a conversation with "CBS This Morning" co-host Gayle King, GRAMMY winner Alicia Keys discussed why she chose a career in music, how the evolving music industry has impacted her outlook, how she gathers inspiration, and the union between activism and art.

"[When I started my career,] it was really important for me to be my own person and to be unique to who I am," said Keys. "I wanted to be the girl that I am now."

The interview took place at the 2014 GRAMMY futureNOW, a two-day music conference presented by the New York Chapter in partnership with the Philadelphia Chapter.
