Singer/songwriter Madi Diaz has nothing but gratitude for the opportunity to perform at Newport Folk Festival 2022 — an opportunity she says was 15 years in the making.

“It would be stunning if you could sit here and watch time flash before your eyes, because so much has happened on these stages,” Madi Diaz says of Newport Folk Festival in an exclusive interview with GRAMMY.com. Nearly a decade and a half ago, the Nashville-based singer/songwriter first graced the Newport stage as a Berklee student, then opening for 11-time GRAMMY winner Linda Ronstadt.
