Singer/songwriter Alynda Segarra sat down with GRAMMY.com at Newport Folk Festival 2022 to explain the many earthly inspirations behind Hurray For The Riff Raff’s music.

“During the pandemic, I was quarantined in New Orleans…I started to really look at the plant life around me, the trees around me, the birds — all of these different forms of life that I had ignored,” the Bronx-native recounts. “We’re all alive at this time for a reason, and it could be because we can change the path of history.”
