(The Word Up From Down Under is an ongoing series featuring interviews conducted by Australian music channel Noise11 with artists while they are traveling through Australia.)
Pop/rock trio Fun. recently conducted a brief tour of Australia, including stops at the Splendour in the Grass festival in Byron Bay, and two concerts at the Hi-Fi in Melbourne. During their stay, Fun. frontman Nate Ruess was interviewed by Noise11, an Australian music channel featuring breaking news, interviews, performances, and more. Ruess discussed touring, the success of their hit song "We Are Young" and working with GRAMMY-winning producer Jeff Bhasker, among other topics.
"Bands generally don't get an opportunity like this," said Ruess on touring across the globe. "When [our] songs started popping off across the globe, we jumped at the opportunity [to tour]. … We want the world to be smaller for us [and] to be able to [go] anywhere."
