Ghost and Halestorm, two recent GRAMMY winners for Best Metal Performance, are among the performers set to bring some sonic mayhem to the proceedings at Rocklahoma 2018 in Pryor, Okla.

Ghost Win Best Metal Performance

Billed as the "biggest Memorial Day weekend party" of 2018, the road-trip-worthy fest features a cross-generational menu of hard-rock headliners, including '80s hair-metal hit-makers Poison, GRAMMY nominees Godsmack and Maynard James Keenan's A Perfect Circle.

Mötley Crüe frontman Vince Neil, the new incarnation of Stone Temple Pilots, and '70s classic-rock staples Cheap Trick will also play the festival. The varied lineup is rounded out by Andrew W.K., Powerman 5000, Candlebox, Trivium, and Dead Girls Academy, among many others.

Launched in 2007, Rocklahoma promises multiple stages of music, VIP packages, unofficial campground parties, and onsite vendors.

Tickets are on sale now.

Ohio hosts 2019's inaugural hard-rock festival experience — its stacked lineup reveals a debut with a pedigree

Danny Wimmer Presents has announced the lineup for the Sonic Temple Art & Music Festival to be held in Columbus, Ohio on May 17–19, 2019, including the reunited System Of A Down, plus other GRAMMY winners  Foo Fighters, Ghost, Halestorm, and Tom Morello.

While replacing the successful 12-year run of Rock On The Range, Sonic Temple aims to be more than just a festival with expanded art, comedy and food experiences.

"Although in its inaugural year, Sonic Temple's pedigree is proven, and its roots are strong," said System Of A Down's Shavo Odadjian. "It made total sense for us to be involved."

That pedigree has also drawn GRAMMY nominees Disturbed, Gojira, Joan Jett And The Blackhearts, Killswitch Engage, Lamb Of God, Mark Lanegan Band, Meshuggah, and The Prodigy.

Female Artists Top The Lineup For Outside Lands 2018

The San Francisco music festival will feature two female headliners for the first time ever in 2018

Apr 3, 2018 - 2:44 pm

Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival has officially announced its lineup of performers for 2018, and in a welcome departure from the traditionally male-heavy booking practices of most major festivals, the late-summer celebration of music and culture will play host to female headliners on its largest stage for two of its three nights – a first in the festival's eleven-year history.

Topping the lineup this year are GRAMMY-winning pop icon Janet Jackson and GRAMMY-nominated British indie rock band Florence + The Machine. GRAMMY-winning darkpop/alternative R&B superstar The Weeknd rounds out the lineup as the third headliner.

Both Jackson's and Florence + The Machine's music catalogues are clearly at top-of-mind for talent bookers this summer, as both were also announced as the forthcoming headliners for Los Angeles' annual two-day FYF Festival.

Along with the expected appearances from top-tier artists such as Future, Beck, Portugal. The Man, Bon Iver, DJ Snake, N.E.R.D., and many others who are generally must-have bookings for any contemporary music festival looking to compete on the U.S. summer circuit, the festival's middle and upper cards are also packed deep with rising and established female and female-fronted talent.

Acts like CHVRCHES, Carly Rae Jepsen and Jessie Ware are obvious and anticipated additions to the billing of early-evening sets, but it's equally exciting to see so many newer names like Tash Sultana, Sabrina Claudio, Jessie Reyez, Margo Price, Lizzo, and others featured so prominently, bringing a welcome diversity of genre, vibe, and national origin in rising female talent to the festival's slate of offerings.

"We wanted to create a lineup that is really well-rounded and speaks to what people are listening to now. We didn’t just want three big names on the top," said Allen Scott, VP of the festival's co-producer Another Planet Entertainment, to SF Gate. "We look at it from every level and always strive to build a unique festival."

Outside Lands 2018 will take place in San Francisco's famous Golden Gate Park on Aug. 10–12. Tickets will go on-sale at 10 a.m. PT on Thursday, April 5 via the festival's official website.

Fat Mike of NoFX plans to see if punk rockers know how to camp this summer
Brian Haack

Mar 26, 2018 - 6:34 pm

Fat Mike of NoFX is debuting a new campout festival this summer, bringing together the ever-constant companions that are punk rock music and large amounts of delicious beer.

Fat Mike's Camp Punk In Drublic, named of course after NoFX's 1994 LP Punk In Drublic, a classic cut of '90s skater punk's most irreverent pre-pop days, will constitute a three-day concert series in Thornville, Ohio, and will cap off NoFX's 2018 spring tour of the same name.

Tapped to play the festival alongside NoFX are fellow '90s punk mainstays Rancid and Pennywise, with The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, Goldfinger, Sick of It All, Lagwagon, Strung Out, the Bouncing Souls, Face to Face, Jello Biafra & the Guantanamo School of Medicine, Mad Caddies, Street Dogs, the Interrupters, Guttermouth, and Bad Cop Bad Cop.

— NOFX (@NOFXband) March 26, 2018

While both the NoFX tour (alongside Bad Religion) and the music festival will share the same central theme – that being live music and craft beer tastings – the campout will expand on the tour's offerings with, carnival games, a dodgeball arena, "Fatty's Midnite Matinee" late-night movie screenings, and "campfire stories from punk legends Fat Mike, Keith Morris, Jello Biafra, Eric Melvin, El Hefe, Erik Sandin, and more!"

In a statement announcing the festival, Fat Mike laid out his vision for the event with his trademark levity, "The thing about camping is that really nothing can go wrong, because everything is already wrong …Punk rockers don't really know how to camp. They know how to wear hoodies, drink, and lean on each other. The good thing is that we got a lot of generators and an unlimited supply of kegs (some are even full of beer). …But there will be 17 great bands, 2 mediocre bands, and 5,000 kegs of beer. What could possibly go wrong?"

Camp Punk In Drublic will be getting drunk and disorderly June 1 – 3 at Ohio's Legend Valley outdoor venue. A limited run of advance tickets will go on sale from between 10 a.m. – midnight on Friday, March 30. Additional ticketing information and prices can be found on the festival website.
