Kendrick Lamar: 'DAMN.' Returns To No. 1 Spot
Originally released in April, DAMN. has now tallied four nonconsecutive weeks in the penthouse. According to Billboard, it's the longest run for an album since The Weeknd's Starboy claimed its fifth nonconsecutive frame in February.
In related Lamar news, the GRAMMY winner went deep in a new Rolling Stone interview, addressing a variety of topics from President Donald Trump to ghostwriters and Beyoncé. Here are three can't-miss highlights:
- On collaborating with U2's Bono on the song "XXX":
"He sent it over, I laid some ideas to it, and we didn't know where it was going. I just happened to have an album coming out, so I just asked him, like, "Yo, would you do me this honor of letting me use this record, use this idea that I want to put together because I'm hearing a certain type of 808, a certain drum to it." And he was open to it."
- On what he learned from Beyoncé working on Lemonade:
"How particular to be about your music. She's a perfectionist."
- On his favorite Drake song:
"I got a lot of favorite Drake songs. Can't name one off the back. ... He has plenty."
