Jay-Z Talks Snoop Dogg, Eminem In David Letterman Interview Preview
On April 6 David Letterman's guest will be Jay-Z on the Netflix series "My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman." A winner of 21 GRAMMYs, Jay-Z's achievements and music are embedded in American daily culture.
The episode's preview shares a peek at the rapper's musical thoughts comparing Eminem and Snoop Dogg. Jay-Z emphasized the distinction between the rhythm and tone of his colleagues. Snoop Dogg was his paragon of having "a great voice" that "just sounds good." Jay-Z contrasted this by praising Eminem's "amazing cadence and syncopation," describing it as "percussion inside the music."
In the episode, Jay-Z also explores his creative childhood, expands on his mother's challenges as a member of the LGBTQ community, addresses his choppy relationship with Kanye West, and steps into the more political side of cultural commentary, discussing President Donald Trump's impact on our country's conversations.
This year is proving to be a busy one for the New York native. During GRAMMY Week earlier this year, Jay-Z received the Recording Academy's Salute To Industry Icons Award. He will be touring this summer with Beyoncé, June through October. Through Roc Nation, the Tidal-founder is also exploring new software apps capable of transforming people's lives for the better, with an emphasis on black community improvement, reducing over-incarceration and helping direct consumers to black-owned businesses.
