On Oct. 1, country singer/songwriter Jason Aldean was performing his song "When She Says Baby" at the Las Vegas Route 91 Harvest Festival when shots were fired into the crowd, resulting in at least 58 deaths and more than 500 injuries. Fortunately, Aldean and his crew were not injured.

After an initial post expressing his sadness, thoughts and prayers for the victims, Aldean has now penned a longer letter that touches on his fear at the current state of the world, the need for people to come together and his continued thoughts and prayers for the victims of the largest mass shooting in U.S. history.

Over the last 24 hrs I have gone through lots of emotions. Fear, Anger, Heartache, Compassion and many others. I truely dont understand why a person would want to take the life of another. Something has changed in this country and in this world lately that is scary to see. This world is becoming the kind of place i am afraid to raise my children in. At the end of the day we arent Democrats or Republicans, Whites or Blacks, Men or Women. We are all humans and we are all Americans and its time to start acting like it and stand together as ONE! That is the only way we will ever get this Country to be better than it has ever been, but we have a long way to go and we have to start now. My heart aches for the Victims and their families of this Senseless act. I am so sorry for the hurt and pain everyone is feeling right now and there are no words i can say to to take that pain away. Just know u all are in my heart and my prayers as we all go through this together. Time to come together and stop the hate!  #stopthehate #prayforlasvegas

Following the deadly mass shooting on Oct. 1 in Las Vegas during the Route 91 Harvest Festival that left at least 58 people dead and more than 500 injured, artists have renewed the call for stricter gun control laws.

Artists including Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Moby, and the Chainsmokers have taken to social media to both offer support for the victims and Las Vegas as well as call on legislators to take action to help prevent mass shootings from happening.

This is terrorism plain and simple. Terror bares no race, gender or religion.  Democrats & Republicans please unite now #guncontrol

My heart is breaking for Las Vegas. We need love, unity, peace, gun control & for people to look at this & call this what it is = terrorism.

        — Ariana Grande (@ArianaGrande) October 2, 2017

To everyone around the world and our Las Vegas family...

How many more mass shootings will it take? How many more lives ended? How many more families destroyed? We need sane, rational, sensible #guncontrolnow . the @nationalrifleassociation and every Republican who opposes gun control has so much blood on their hands. Mass shootings are evil, passing legislation that enables them to happen even more so.

John Mayer also expressed his views in a lengthy series of tweets.

No words. Just grief, sadness, and the never-ending attempt to make sense of something utterly senseless. Love to all in Las Vegas.

"If you're not at least trying to fix this, you're effectively telling the country in your (in)actions that this somehow acceptable," he tweeted. "There's two moralities: morality identity and morality-in-action. Our greater moral identity doesn’t match our actions so far."
