H.E.R. Celebrates Prince At "Let's Go Crazy" Tribute: "It's Gonna Be A Party!"
In the words of the legendary purple one himself, nothing compares to you, Prince. His music moved so many of us and his fashion influenced and awed the world many times over. He has also inspired generations of artists since he first gifted the world with his deep, groovy and intricate jams back in the late '70s.
The 22-year-old guitar-slaying R&B queen H.E.R. is one of these artists.
"Prince, his musicianship and his uniqueness, and his love for music, it was just so contagious. And his mystique!" the GRAMMY winner shared backstage at "Let's Go Crazy: The GRAMMY Salute To Prince," rocking a fabulous shiny, iridescent white jumpsuit with a matching electric guitar and big mirrored glasses. "You know, I really model after that. He's everything to me and he's probably one of my number one influences. And my guitar playing."
During the star-studded musical special, she adds her own flair to two of his hits: "The Beautiful Ones" and "Let's Go Crazy," the latter of which she performs with Gary Clark Jr.
"He made music for everybody, so I really try to channel that when I make music," the "Hard Place" singer added.
Tune in to CBS (or streaming on CBS All Access) on Tues., April 21 from 9-11 p.m. ET/PT to watch H.E.R.'s performances, as well as many more from Prince's musical treasure chest, brought to life by Sheila E., The Revolution, John Legend, Common, Dave Grohl with the Foo Fighters, Earth, Wind & Fire, Juanes and other greats.
