Last week, 2020 GRAMMY Music Educator Award winner Mickey Smith Jr. received the $10,000 check on behalf of the music department of Maplewood Middle School in Sulphur, La., where he works as the beloved band director.

Donna and John Bel Edwards, the First Lady and Governor of Louisiana, respectively, and Pamela Alexander of the Ford Motor Company Fund, which partners with the GRAMMY Museum to sponsor the annual accolade, presented the giant check to Smith Jr. virtually.

"Thank you to everyone that's been a part of this amazing process. As a kid, I'd always dreamed of winning a GRAMMY as a musician, but middle school band records don't win GRAMMYs, especially those in small towns," Smith shared as he accepted the prize. "But it's amazing how if you just keep waking up every day, amazing can happen."

On Wednesday, Dec. 2, the GRAMMY Museum, in partnership with the Ford Motor Company Fund, will continue its virtual GRAMMY Career Day music industry mentorship series for students. The online day of mentorship and career advice will feature GRAMMY-winning music and style icon Jody Watley, President of Cheryl Cobb Entertainment Cheryl Cobb and the GRAMMY Museum's own David R. Students from three high schools—Northeast High School in Kansas City, Mo., Parkrose High School in Portland, Ore. and Shadow Mountain High School in Phoenix, Ariz.—will participate in the event.

According to the GRAMMY Museum, the programming "provides insight to high school students about careers that are available to them in the music industry, and direction on how to prepare for them. GRAMMY Career Day provides an opportunity for students to interact with professionals representing a wide range of careers. Speakers for Career Day include GRAMMY winners and nominees, and professionals in related disciplines. These interactive sessions take students through the inner workings of the industry to learn exactly what it takes to make it in the business."

The upcoming session follows eight other star-studded, regional Career Day events hosted this fall. The events are typically held in person across the country, but have gone virtual for the first time this year. More virtual Career Day events will take place in spring 2021, thanks to the continued support of the Ford Motor Company Fund.

Ahead of the 2020 Latin GRAMMYs on Thursday, Nov. 19, the GRAMMY Museum invites you to revisit their engaging bilingual exhibit celebrating the magic and history of the Latin GRAMMYs. Available for the first time virtually (for free!), "Latin GRAMMYs, 20 Years Of Excellence" invites viewers to take a closer look at the artists—along with their instruments, performances and killer outfits—and moments that make the yearly Latin GRAMMYs show the Biggest Night in Latin Music.

In the exhibit, you can explore the colorful artwork for each Latin GRAMMY Awards show, outfits worn by artists at the shows over the years—like the tuxedo, pictured above, Juan Gabriel wore during his 40-minute performance at the 2009 Latin GRAMMYs—and an amazing collection of instruments, including a custom guitar from Carlos Vives and an accordion from Los Tigres del Norte's frontman Jorge Hernández.

You will learn about the history of the show—like how the first five years it was broadcast in English instead of Spanish—and its lively performances. You can also explore the different musical styles, from salsa to cumbia to alt-rock en Español, and sounds created in the Latin GRAMMY-nominated and -winning music throughout the decades.

First unveiled at the GRAMMY Museum at L.A. Live in 2019 as part of the museum's renovated third floor, the exhibit celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Latin GRAMMY Awards that year.

Visit "Latin GRAMMYs, 20 Years Of Excellence" on the GRAMMY Museum's site, where you can also explore all virtual exhibits, including exhibits celebrating Count Basie, John Denver, Monterey International Pop Festival and many more.

The 2020 Latin GRAMMYs will air on Univision on Thursday, Nov. 19, at 8 p.m. ET/PT (7 p.m. CT). The broadcast will also air on TNT (cable) at 7 p.m. (MEX)/8 p.m. (COL)/10 p.m. (ARG/CHI), and on Televisa on Channel 5.
