(In an effort to keep you fully informed, and fully entertained, below we present today's FYI and TMI — news you need and news that's, well, sometimes needless….)
Timberlake Scores Best-Selling Album Of 2013, Streaming Services Increase
GRAMMY winner Justin Timberlake's The 20/20 Experience debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, selling 968,000 copies according to Neilsen SoundScan. The singer's third studio album is now the best-selling album of 2013 so far, surpassing GRAMMY winners Mumford & Sons' Babel at 658,000 copies. Timberlake's first music performance in seven years was staged at the 55th GRAMMY Awards in February. In related music retail news, streaming and subscription services increased in 2012, accounting for 15 percent of record business revenue, according to a RIAA report. Revenue from streaming services increased 59 percent to $571 million from $360 million. However, total revenue decreased 1 percent for the year.
Does Kanye West Believe He's God?
GRAMMY-winning rapper Kanye West arguably has one of the biggest egos in the rap game, but does he think enough of himself to claim he's God? Yes, if you believe a recent BBC News report that claims the rapper will name his next solo album I Am God. The self-proclaimed Don once posed as Jesus on the cover of Rolling Stone, but he has no intention of claiming he's the creator of mankind, according to a source who spoke to E! News. For the record, we think Kanye decided a new God and a new pope in the same year might be too much.
