Block Party To Aid Nashville Flood Relief
The Recording Academy Los Angeles Chapter will host its first-ever GRAMMY Block Party July 31 at The Academy's national headquarters in Santa Monica, Calif. All proceeds will benefit the MusiCares Nashville Flood Relief Fund, which was established by The Academy and MusiCares in response to the devastating and life-altering effects of the recent floods that unexpectedly hit Nashville and its surrounding areas this spring. Fundraising efforts officially kicked off at the Nashville Chapter's 12th Annual GRAMMY Block Party and Membership Celebration on May 11, and 100 percent of every dollar raised was immediately distributed to help those in the music community who were victims of the flood.
The GRAMMY Block Party, which will run from 3–7 p.m., will feature performances by singer/songwriter akaCassidy, YouTube sensation Charice, Latin/folk group La Santa Cecilia, and Nashville recording artist Chuck Wicks, among others, with musical direction provided by Rickey Minor, who was recently named music director for "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno."
Tickets are available for $60.
