Following the announcement of her new upcoming album, Chromatica, and its coinciding international tour, 11-time GRAMMY-winning pop megastar Lady Gaga now joins Apple Music as its newest Artist In Residence, it was announced today (March 7). Together, the streaming service and "Mother Monster" are celebrating International Women's Day, which takes place this weekend (Sunday, March 8), with the launch of an exclusive new playlist curated by the singer herself. Dubbed Lady Gaga: Women of Choice, the playlist features an all-star roster of all-women artists, including St. Vincent, ROSALÍA, Grimes, Charli XCX, Kelela and many others.

Lady Gaga joins other female artists and celebrities on playlist duties, including Taylor Swift, Kehlani, Hailee Steinfeld and Halle Berry, among others, who have curated special playlists for Apple Music.

The celebrity-curated playlists are part of Apple Music's larger rollout for International Women's Day. The platform has refreshed some of its biggest playlists to feature all women, while its popular Essentials collections highlight some of today's leading women in music across all genres and throughout the decades. The streaming service is also spotlighting documentaries on Billie Eilish, H.E.R., Jessie Reyez and Summer Walker as part of its Up Next series as well as radio shows from Charli XCX, Meghan Trainor and others.

Beats 1, Apple Music's online 24-hour radio station, will deliver a 24-hour female-fronted block of content that will include rebroadcasted in-depth interviews with Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, Halsey, FKA twigs and others, as well as special episodes of their branded shows.

Check out all of Apple Music's International Women's Day content, and make sure to celebrate the women in your life this Women's History Month.

Poll: What's Your Favorite Classic GRAMMYs Performance?

Will it be Whitney Houston, Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar or Dixie Chicks?

There's nothing more exciting than watching your favorite artists accept golden gramophones at the GRAMMY Awards. But don’t forget: Music’s Biggest Night always turns out some amazing live performances.

Throughout the years, some of the biggest names in music have graced the GRAMMY stage with lively or touching performances and even epic collaborations. And now that the countdown to the 61st GRAMMY Awards on Feb. 10 is in full swing, we want to know: What’s your favorite classic GRAMMY performance?

Polls

What's Your Favorite Classic GRAMMYs Performance?

Let’s tackle these from the top: The GRAMMY stage would not be the same without the late, great Whitney Houston. Accompanied by an orchestra, the pop icon took the 36th GRAMMY Awards stage in in 1994 for a breathtaking performance of "I Will Always Love You."

And remember how Christina Aguilera, Mya, Lil' Kim, Missy Elliott and Pink brought Paris' Moulin Rouge to the 44th GRAMMY Awards with their famous rendition of "Lady Marmalade"? That performance came sealed with a guest appearance by the legendary Patti LaBelle, who originated the track in 1974 with her band Labelle.

We can't leave out the Dixie Chicks, who gave a touching version of "Not Ready To Make Nice" at the 49th GRAMMY Awards.

And there's Kendrick Lamar's powerful rendition of "The Blacker The Berry" and "Alright" at the 58th GRAMMY Awards in 2016, a performance that pointedly brought issues surrounding the prison industrial system into focus.

However, Beyoncé, a true showstopper, could take your vote with her golden performance of "Love Drought" and "Sandcastles." Singing while pregnant, Queen Bey managed to defy expectations by literally defying gravity at the GRAMMY Awards in 2017.

Ultimately, it could come down to a 60th GRAMMY Awards performance where Kesha, introduced by Janelle Monaé's #TimesUp speech, brought the house down by singing “Praying” alongside Cyndi Lauper, Camila Cabello, Julia Michaels and Andra Day.

And finally, Bruno Mars and Cardi B's ultra-colorful, ‘90s-themed "Finesses" performance is a worthy contender, too.

So, which will it be? Vote above, and check out this year’s sure-to-be-spectacular performances when the 61st GRAMMY Awards airs on Sunday, Feb. 10 on CBS.

Streaming With Siri, Radio App On Apple WatchOS 4.1

OS update designed with more musical engagement in mind as Siri syncs streaming to your moods and requests

According to Cnet News, the upcoming software update Apple WatchOS 4.1 will deliver redesigned musical engagement to your wrist once it becomes available later this month. Music streaming with the Apple Watch Radio App will give America new motivation to ensure their speech has the clarity virtual assistant Siri needs to go searching for new requests.

Because gear and services in the Apple ecosystem are mutually enhancing, best results will be enjoyed by iPhone owners who have built an iCloud Music Library for themselves, sync their iPhone with their Watch, and can take advantage of Wi-Fi or LTE data connections. Cnet editors considered the battery life adequate for a day's casual usage or to get through a workout before recharging.

Nothing Virtual About MelodyVR's New $10 Million

Because users cannot type on their Watch, the choice is to either navigate using their iPhone or to count on Siri. The Music App grants library access but Siri uses the streaming Radio App for playback. The editors suggested users will want to set up shortcuts to both apps. The Radio App can access whatever is on the air from CBS Radio, ESPN or NPR as well as Apple's own Beats One music station.

The tech experts at Cnet are accustomed to navigating gear that does new things and they present useful tips, but public adoption has shown training is not a prerequisite before jumping in. Waiting for WatchOS 4.1's public release is required, however, for now. But soon Siri will be hard at work, analyzing the moods and favorites of upgraded Apple Watch users whose musical engagement is hopefully more intuitive than ever. Although Siri cannot actually jump to conclusions, the A.I. can keep track of every preference and detail to match music tracks with moments in a way that should soon seem more intuitive as well.

Apple Secures Deal With Warner Music Group

WMG catalog to be available via iTunes Store and Apple Music; agreement with Sony Music next

Apple has inked an agreement with Warner Music Group, the company's first deal with a major label since introducing its Apple Music service in 2015, according to a Bloomberg report.

Bruno Mars wins 2014 Best Pop Vocal Album GRAMMY

The deal will see WMG provide a catalog of songs that includes GRAMMY winners such as Ed Sheeran, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Bruno Mars, among others, available across the iTunes store and Apple Music. Bloomberg states anonymous sources claim Apple will compensate record labels with a smaller percentage of sales from Apple Music subscribers than it did compared to the first deal for the streaming service, in a bid to reduce its revenue share commitment.

Meanwhile, another source stated that Apple was looking to secure a similar deal with Sony Music.

Apple's activity follows a similar lead from Spotify, which earlier this year consummated multi-year licensing deals with Universal Music Group and indie-label digital rights agency Merlin.

Apple Music is a key cog in the company's revenue stream, which the company aims to double to approximately $50 billion by 2020. On Sept. 12 Apple is scheduled to debut iPhone 8, the latest iteration of its music-friendly device that has moved more than 1.2 billion units since 2007.
