Up All Night With Arty
Russian electronic music producer/DJ Arty recently performed at the Electric Daisy Carnival 2014 in Las Vegas. Following his set, Arty participated in an exclusive GRAMMY.com interview, discussing his musical background, his recent single "Up All Night" featuring singer/songwriter Angel Taylor and how he plans to grow as an artist, among other topics.
"I did a lot of the songwriting [for my upcoming album], and I'm pretty sure, for me, it's the next step as an artist because it's one thing to do the track, and it's a completely different thing to produce the whole song," said Arty, who is also a classically trained pianist. "With a song you can say much more than just with a track, because words are such a powerful thing."
Hailing from Engels, Russia, Arty burst onto the electronic music scene in 2009 with tracks such as "Gentle Touch," "Get On" and "Flip Flop," the latter of which features fellow Russian DJ/producer Misha Kitone. In 2011 he released a pair of collaborative singles with Mat Zo, "Mozart" and "Rebound." In 2013 he followed with "Flashback," "Riot" featuring Matisse & Sadko, "Grand Finale" featuring Fiora, "Must Be Love" featuring BT and Nadia Ali, and "Together We Are" featuring Chris James. In January he released a remix of English trio London Grammar's single "Hey Now."
In May Arty became the first artist signed to Insomniac Records, an imprint of Interscope Records that takes its name from renowned electronic music event company Insomniac. Arty is expected to release his debut full-length release this fall, and will support the release with a tour later this year. The album's first single, "Up All Night" featuring Angel Taylor, was released July 1.
