Alicia Keys' 'More Myself' Autobiography Coming In The Fall
On March 13, Alicia Keys and Oprah Winfrey revealed that Keys' autobiography — More Myself — would be released by Macmillan's Flatiron Books on Nov. 5, the first title under the aegis of Winfrey's "An Oprah Book" imprint. "I didn't tell anybody that I was writing this book," said Keys.
"The point is that we get to continuously discover who we are," said Keys, explaining how the book's title is key to its purpose. Filled with lessons readers can apply to their own paths, More Myself creates a "360 degree perspective" on Keys' timeline through music to super-star status, combining the 61st GRAMMYs host's musings, plus interviews from friends who have shared in her journey.
"I'm just so happy that I can say I arrived at a place where I actually am more myself than I've ever been in my life," said Keys. "I really look forward to becoming even more More Myself." That's why she declared, "I wanted to call it a journey ... I do not want it to be called a memoir."
"You don't have to compare yourself to anybody. You don't have to try to be like somebody else. You don't have to try to make other people who you want to please happy," continued Keys. "The goal is that you are making yourself happy, that you are learning more about yourself."
More Myself is available for pre-order on Flatiron Books' website, and Oprah Magazine has additional details.
