Kalani Pe'a performs "Hanalei I Ka Pilimoe"

GRAMMY award-winning singer/songwriter Kalani Pe'a performs "Hanalei I Ka Pilimoe" at the Recording Academy's Pacific Northwest Chapter's Songwriters Summit in Portland.

Prior to the performance, Pe'a sat down with singer/songwriter and producer Catherine Harris-White, a.k.a. SassyBlack, to share his experiences struggling with a difficult speech impediment as a young child growing up in Hawaii, and how he used his early love for music helped him gain the confidence he needed to progress as an artist, build relationships with the people around him, and write a GRAMMY-winning album. In his own words: "Music saved my life."
