San Francisco has been a home for free-thinking creative minds for decades and its music community reflects that diversity and innovation. San Francisco and the Bay Area region have produced musical icons such as Tom Waits, Green Day, Metallica, Neil Young, the Grateful Dead, Journey, John Adams, Jefferson Airplane, Bonnie Raitt, Dead Kennedys, Primus, Santana, and Boz Scaggs. San Francisco's unique music community embraces the divergent world of music and technology. San Francisco and the Silicon Valley are as important to the proliferation and promotion of music as the Fillmore, Great American Music Hall and the Warfield.

The San Francisco Chapter is leading the way in embracing the sometimes-divergent worlds of technology and art through inventive professional development programming. The Chapter's annual Music Business Night School is multi-night program to help artists maximize their visibility and revenue streams. Through the Songwriter Composer Series, artists explore professional development from a creative standpoint by a diverse line up of artists from hip-hop artists like Lyrics Born and Gift of Gab to singer/songwriter, Matt Nathanson to the indie rock band the National. The innovative P&E Wing Listening Events and the P&E Wing Swap Meet bring together the community of producers and engineers.

Please take a few minutes and explore not only what the San Francisco Chapter is doing, but what all the Chapters have to offer in the way of professional development and opportunities for our members.
